Runcorn Town Reserves kept up the pressure on the leaders of West Cheshire Three with a hard fought 2-0 victory over FC Pensby at Pavilions.
Pensby's last loss in the league came in early October when they went down 7-1 at home to Town, but new management and players since then has obviously paid off with the visitors defence stifling everything that Town had to offer.
The first half was a tight affair with Dave Jolley coming the closest to opening the scoring with a long range shot early on that went just over. Town's defence was also in good form with Pensby limited to long range shots, one of which Kev Ginever did really well to tip around the post.
The second half saw Town find more space, and it was no surprise when Jolley opened the scoring on the hour mark. A free kick from the left was only half cleared with Jolley's powerful shot from the edge of the box finding the net.
Jolley was also involved in the second ten minutes later when Reece Conlan freed him down the right. His low cross found Craig Beech who rounded the keeper and scored past two defenders on the line.
